Hey there Vic,how the hell are ya old friend? How's your t-craft project coming along?
PS. This is one of those threads that might be best if the lights were left turned off ....LOL,just kidding
Ah the humor returns , there have been many phone calls and e-mails I spent about 6 hours on this situation yesterday. All seems to be well, next week may bring big changes down south. Stay tuned.
All is well here in Alliance, will not make Brodhead this time, have to go fly a Capella this morning, then intertain the gang from Ponchos this afternoon. Met a contractor from Brownsville last night good stories!
Hi Kevin, Got the fuselage fixed and ready to sand blast. One new rudder. I could have fixed the old rudder but was able to buy a new one and went for it. I am almost finish with the house so i have more time to work on the T-craft.
The problem for us on the forum is that something is going on, and we know not what. What was the outcome of the sheriff's sale, why was there a sherriff's sale, what is the status of the factory, what provoked Harry's outburst, is there anything to what Harry is claiming, what does all this mean for Taylorcraft owners? Is all this going to leak out to the aviation community thus eroding confidence in old TCrafts, and their value? Is Forrest going to stop selling parts, will others stop selling parts, is the factory selling parts? Who the hell knows what's going on, and when are they going to let us know?

Ed,
I can't answer your questions, but I can direct you to what information is available in the public record. The Office of the Texas Secretary of State has an online search function for business and trademark registration (www.sos.state.tx.us/). Here's the entry for Taylorcraft:
UCC | Business Organizations | Trademarks | Account | Help/Fees | Briefcase | Logout
FIND ENTITY NAME SEARCH
This search was performed on with the following search parameter:
ENTITY NAME : taylorcraft
Mark Filing Number Name Entity Type Entity Status Name Type Name Status

Entry 800147140 is for Harry Ingram and Taylorcraft Aviation. I've attached the document that shows the history of this registration. They had a problem and the registration was forfeited. No attempt was (apparently) made to renew. This all happened back in 2004.
A new registration reservation for the Taylorcraft name was applied for by Mr. Garrick on 4/7/2006. It has since expired. See attached document.
Another reservation for the Taylorcraft name registration was made on August 29, 2006 by Mr. Patrick. That reservation is still in effect.
As far as what may have caused the sheriffs sale, there are several lawsuits on record. Here are those records from the iDocket public access system:
1. Civil Docket; Case 2006CCL00168 ; Accounts, Contracts, Notes
LARRY R. JENSEN AND MICHELLE A. JENSEN vs HARRY WAYNE INGRAM,IND. & DBA TAYLORCR
Filed 02/06/2006 - Disposition: 04/25/2006 Default judgment
County Court at Law #3, County Clerk, Cameron County, Texas

2. Civil Docket; Case 2006CCL00671 ; Accounts, Contracts, Notes
THOMAS E. GARRICK vs TAYLORCRAFT AVIATION, L.L.C.
Filed 04/20/2006 - Disposition: 06/28/2006 Default judgment
County Court at Law #2, County Clerk, Cameron County, Texas

3. Civil Docket; Case 2006CCL01203 ; Civil
TAYLORCRAFT AVIATION, L.L.C. vs THOMAS E. GARRICK
Filed 08/07/2006 - Disposition: 08/11/2006
County Court at Law #2, County Clerk, Cameron County, Texas

Taylorcraft was sued by two different parties (Jensen and Garrick) and default judgements were entered in both cases. That means Taylorcraft did not respond at all to either suit or did not respond in a timely manner. You'd have to subscribe to the iDocket system to dig out more info on the nature of the suits and the amount of the awards.
Lots of information is available in the public record...
At first thought I figured the lift strut business would be too hard to break in to but Harry's figures don't lie. What I figure is Forrest, Joe and I should specialize. So after careful consideration we plan to sell ift struts for A models that have only been fitted with 985 P & W's. We know that our market is limited but we knoe we will corner all those people who own one.al birds. To further narrow the market down they must be painted Porche silver. Also to keep overhead down we will offer a Rolls Royce radiator repair service and cumberbun refurbishing business. We are not sure yet which year Rolls radiator we will offer but we are contacting Harry to help out with the radiator test stand. We ave been told he has enough hot air to sopply us with 3000# psi all day long.
We know that we have a great service to offer even if it is a bit limited. We forsee our business up and running in two weeks.
Anyone with an A model Taylorcraft that has been fitted with a 985 we are your teem. Rembere it must be Porche silver! Only $3000.00 Down. Get on our list NOW! Our production is limited so call ASAP to reserve yours today.
Oh boy , if this situation wasn't so sad , it could be amusing. Tom if you can over the week-end come up with the facts of the situation, parts being seized, possible eviction status, anything will help & please explain that I never was involved in any strut discussion situation with you or anyone in fact!
The thing that I have done is sketch up aluminum struts for the existing ships that use the engineered D-52 ends ( the big motor glider from many years ago.) This is my idea only and this is the first public acknowledgement of it. A very few folks have seen the idea. The strut material is available a short distance from Alliance.

Dang! Do you think an exception could be made for one with a Wright R975......in taupe?
This doesn'tBsound good for the factory.
I'm just a dump Wisconsin guy, but Oh boy here we go!!!
Still trying to get to Brodhead this weekend, but weather problems here in the northern part of Wisconsin has keep the t-craft in the hanger.
Should get a window tomorow morning to get in to Brodhead.
Stand by you guys at Brodhead, N44338 should make it tomorrow.
Ok guys do we need to open up our wallets and get what ever we need from the factory???
Ed,
I am starting to really feel like my welding abilities are not all that bad Maybe I should just take the good ends off of the damaged or spliced struts that I have, buy the tubing and make my own....under the owner produced part rule.
Unfortunately, by "letter of the law" FAR Part 21.303, you can only build owner-produced parts IF the factory or a PMA is not supporting the part already. The factory part could be debated if Harry is not producing them yet, but Univair does make them already. I know that doesn't necessarily stop some people.

I have considered this too. RANS S-7 has an aluminum extruded strut that is EXACTLY the same major and minor axis dimensions as an earlier version of the steamline tubing that is not being produced anymore. AND the RANS is aerobatic capable so I would not be concerned about the strength of the material.

Yeah but you'd be substituting aluminum for steel with no increase in size ??? Look how much bigger a Cessna aluminum strut is...
Taylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting
After almost four years I have able to get most of my F-21B back from the New Taylorcraft Factory but I was not able to recover my wheels, brakes, tires, Rt. rear window frame, battery and battery box, mags, carb., baffels, air filter and air intake, carb heater and other misc. items and the $28,000 I sent to the factory.
If there is anyone in the Forum that has an aircraft in the New Taylorcraft Factory they should call either the sheriff of Cameron County, TX. or atty. Tom Fleming. If you need help in getting you airplane or parts back, I will be at home for the next few days. Please feel free to call me.
thank you Tom! I hope all folks who have airplanes & parts at the factory will listen up and DO SOMETHING. Your offer is good, contact him folks.... Tom maybe print the phone numbers on the web for all to use. I hear that www.landings.com has started the ball rolling with a story on the factory.
There were news reporter(s) there Friday, story to come out Sunday locally and the race is on to see who posts it first. Oh well on to other hand, I am glad the discussion group continues with the original intent, lets stay together for the good of Taylorcrafts all over the world.
As to the aluminum struts, they do have to be a wee bit larger and they have a real thick section at the neutral point from end to end.
My source would be Carslon Aircraft www.sky-tek.com rumor has it they have the spars, ribs, etc... for Swick conversions, and 23012 ribs too... check them out.
I just picked up all the Taylorcraft parts they had from the Conway days during the days of Ben Mauro & Jack Gilberti.
