  • Continental Video

Hey guys, My A&P mentioned to me that he saw a video a long time ago that was made by the Army that showed how to put a C Series continental back together. The main interest was that the video showed some "tricks".

Has anyone heard of this? Got a line on where to get it? If you have it, I'll burn it onto DVD as a big thankyou!!

If you find it and burn a copy I would really like one too. If it isn't copyrighted you could probably sell a bushel of them!

                Video source

Upon watching the video, it appears to be an "A" series engine. Even if it is an "A" series, the steps shown are helpful if you've never done an overhaul before or just want to see the internal mechanism. The production was done by the Federal Government...Office of Education...Department of Visual Aids...something like that...it isn't HD TV by any means!

I bought my VHS video tape years ago from:
                Seminar Publishers
                Suite 1102
                210 Fifth Avenue
                New York, NY 10010

Video Name: "BCT-490A How to Overhaul Airplane Engines"

However...when searching on the net...the same video is listed as available from: They are located in Barberton, Ohio Ph. 877-318-1555 Price: $10.00
I opened up their site and worked my way through:

Videos & Books- Aviation Videos- Vintage Warbird and Training Videos- Vintage and Current Aircraft Mechanic Training Films- HOW TO OVERHAUL AIRPLANE ENGINES (the video in question was located on page 2... after getting to "Vintage and Current Aircraft Mechanic....etc".) I couldn't get their search feature to grab the right item. You might have to phone them...!
                Hope this helps...any questions...ask. Dick

                  Essco

The owner Ernie Stadvec is a very good friend. The business is about 20 miles from here. I will call him Tuesday and check status. I will get a copy and review for quality & accuuracy. WE have a local guru Chuck Hulmes that has worked a lot with Continental over the years and knows all the tricks.
He does all my work except the cases that I send out... ESSCO is our official site for Taylorcraft reprints , he has them all ; check our own web site for the link. bye
