  • 1946 BC12-D Rear "D" windows

Do all BC12-D's have the rear "D" windows. I have the inner frames for these, although they are beat up. Do they also have an outer frame? Is there a source for the window glass or do you cut your own? I am debating whether or not to install them and would like some feedback.

Dan: My D window has a flat aluminium frame around the outside like this.

I used 2mm acrylic from the local Acrylic store.

There's actually a set of these aluminum frames for sales on Ebay right now! My T has portholes for the back windows....they look nice but don't add a lot of visbility or light.

        Vincent:
How about a close up photo of your portholes? Did you get them at the marine supply store?

          Bob,
Here's the ones on my BC12D. It's a pretty simple set-up and I've had a lot of people mention how much they like the round windows, but I still prefer the big back windows. I've got the frames for a set of Stinson back windows and they look just right when I hold them up on the T.
They still have that vintage look and the shape flows very nicely with the lines of the airplane.

Yes, Vincent, that's a very cool window. Am I correct that it is an inner and outer aluminum frame with a round plexiglass pane sandwiched between? #8 screws hold the sandwich together? Is it attached somehow to the door frame or the tube below?

Very nice indeed. I'm thinking that it gives your T-craft a pleasant antiquey look. Do you happen to have a profile photo available of your plane?

Those on ebay are for prewar only. I have a couple sets of those here but no bows.

My 1946 BC12D has no rear windows. I would put them in if and when I ever recover the airplane.
