  • 60th Birthdays: N43672 Was 60 Yesterday.

According to the "birth certificate" (the data plate), Miss Midge turned 60 yesterday. Since my wife was out of town visiting her parents, I could spend most of the day with Midge, puttering around to make sure she was comfortable. Even though it was four weeks ago since we last went out dancing, I wanted her to know that she wasn't being neglected. It never ceases to surprise me how a little bit of attention will cause someone to shine. Since I was getting over the crud and had some not-ok medication in the system, we couldn't go then, but I promised her I'd be back today. And today we danced in the cross wind like never before; but, she's always a lady and lets me lead, so it was great. Thanks to CG for letting me date his daughter.

My little lady (was NC43640) was "officially" 60 on 23 March but first flight was All Fools Day 1st April 1946 (Paul A. Dietz, pilot), so we will be celebrating on that day.

Lets have some more; with your permission, Alan, I will alter the thread title to promote some more "60th" birthdays.

Pulled out my CD and I haven't missed her 60th birthday. Wasn't even thinking about her birthday until this thread. Ser. No. 9018,N96718 was issued a registeration certificate and airworthiness certificate on 7/11/1946. Sold to John E. Patrick of Carson Iowa on the 13th.

BC12-D N43684 SN 7343 will have a birthday tomorrow March 27, 1946. According to the CD I got from the FAA, the Airworthiness Certificate, Operations Limitations and Aircraft Inspection Report were signed by Kenneth Warder on March 27, 1946. The Application for Airworthiness Certificate for an Aircraft was signed by Bernard Russ who was Vice President of the Taylorcraft Aviation Division, Detroit Air-Craft Products, Inc. on March 27, 1946 and approved by Kenneth M Warder on March 27, 1946. Happy 60th Birthday N43684.

A bunch of these beautys become 60 this year. If you check the theme for the Fly-in this year in Alliance it is based around 7-7-1936 , 7-7-1946, 7-7-1976 & finally on Friday 7-7-2006 .
Bring them on and we will celebrate, two of the original test pilots will be there too! My little lady N43533 flew March 17th, 1946 with my father as test pilot. ( It was his 41 st Birthday)
She went up this March 17th, 2006 along with Kelli-Belle who was 5 years old that day too!!

You guys & your new fangled modern airplanes. My plane (Aunt B Taylor) turns 68 this year. Alan,I had to show my wife your post, she thought I was the only airplane nut that named his plane & remembered her birthday. Great Thread! Eric

Suzy, maybe a round of "name that plane"? And the winner gets a free plane ride.

Eric...good plan! Maybe I will toss that topic out while at Sun N Fun...where the beer flows like water and avgas is as good as perfume! Maybe there will be some divine inspiration under a fabric wing.

Still thinking of getting some Michigan Tcrafts together for a fly-in?

My wife was the person who names almost all my airplanes, thats where Crispy Critter got it's name.

You can count me and probably my old man in up here in the U.P.....we're always looking for a place to fly to. We have 2 planes turning 60 in Aug/September, also my BL55 is 66, and dad's BL12 is 65 this year...I'll have to check when they were made though....the BL55 (N26559) is S/N 1901 and the BL12 (N36117) is s/n 3084. Our 2 BC12D's are 8908 and 9808 I thought that was pretty cool....they think they are better than the rest though cause one has a C85 and the other a C90.....they still need to respect thier elders.

Count me in! Let me know the dates so I can get my vacation request turned in! Hopefully, I'll have named my baby by then!

Maggie's birthday was today. (NC43913) She's 60 years old, almost as old as...well, me. Unlike me, Maggie is getting a complete makeover.

We had a little birthday party for her. Sharon made a carrot cake, and I made her a present--a new airscoop! We toasted the old girl with Milwaukees best.
