  • New Flying Helmets

With the height of many current pilots, I was wondering if anyone flys in their Tcraft with the new style helmets (not military style). Especially with our heads usually higher than the top of the door frame. I know many Supercubbers are flying with them. When I was flying experimentals in Canada years back I was informed they were required. At first like anything else I didn't care for it but after using it I felt comfortable with the fit and liked the integral head set and mic setup. Although a standard headset may keep one's head from bopping the door frame the helmet would offer better protection with less cussing!

I use a clarity aloft in ear headset and a skateboard helmet. Definitely think the helmet is a good idea and this is cheap and much cooler in the summer.

I'm 6'1" and used to fly cubs a lot. My helmet fit but I'd touch a few of the overhead tubes now and then. Now that I am Taylorcraft curious I'm not sure I could fit without finding a more low profile one, like maybe the Team Wendy ones or whatever they are.

Lift Aviation has maybe the best headset and protection but they are expensive. Comtronics has a much lower cost and includes their headsets. Not sure on performance.

I have its predecessor, the Sport Link. I use it with my unmodified Lightspeed Zulu 2. But the helmet is heavy and I feel the stress on my neck, makes me feel like an orange on the toothpick.
