  • Alternate coil for Eismann AM4?

If I were to, say, use my A-65 engine with Eismann mags on an experimental...what is a good substitute coil for the original Eismann AM4 magnetos??

Get them made by a Tractor magneto coil maker. But be aware, the physical dimensions of the coil within the Magneto housing are quite critical. I have a tame winding coiler here in the UK...his first try was perfect in terms of resistance etc, but just a bit too fat to fit into the Eisemann housing. Thanks for the reminder; I must try him again.

    I love the Eisemann mags.

I love my Eisemanns too. Coils are a big problem. I would say find an antique tractor fanatic and if you go to buy a coil (the right one) get him to buy them for you. The coil guys just clam up around here if they find out you have an airplane. One of the tractor coils was supposed to also be used in the 40s Taylorcraft mags.

If your guy can wind them let us know! I would sure like a couple in reserve!
