  • Aluminum Nicopress sleeves?

I'm working on a BC12D, and when cleaning up the cables I noticed the Nicopress sleeves are aluminum not copper. I thought aluminum sleeves were not allowed on aircraft. I'm wondering if some mechanic that didn't know the rules made the cables, or am I missing something, were aluminum sleeves allowed ?

Not aware of aluminium sleeves that have an MS number.
there are plated sleeves however, that could appear like aluminium.

There are zinc and tin plated sleeves. Plain copper and zinc plated are for galvanized cable, and tin for stainless cable.

Thanks guys. Yeah I never heard of aluminum being legal. These didn't look like plated so I took a file to them, they are aluminum. I guess the old girl is getting all new cables! It's one of those projects that grew, but it will be nice when done. Scott, I was VERY impressed with the job you did on yours, I'm not trying to match yours, just cleaning it up and making it safe for my son and some local kids to use to get their PPL's. I found your blog a few weeks ago, wish I had found it earlier, learned lots about the Tcraft. I grew up with Cubs & Champs/Chiefs, never had any experience with Tcrafts until now. Never heard a bad word about them from those who flew, can't wait to fly her.
