  • Need a door handle ‘47

I ask in another post but got on to other things and didn’t follow up. I sent out a couple PMs but I don’t think I am using correctly, not showing up in my sent message bucket.

I’m back to the doors now and am looking for one of these. Got 3.

There are a lot of them around but the problem is they corrode to the shaft and can't be removed. I glued a broken one back together and made a mold some time ago, then cast one from resin with a steel wire inside of it. If you get desperate for one I could do it again but would need a broken one for a new mold. With luck someone will be able to get one off of an old door intact. If someone does, let me know how you did it. I have several old doors with handles that I can't get off.

Yea, the pins were corroded on mine and it took a bit to get them off. Hopefully someone has one laying around not in use that they will turn loose of.

How did you get it off? I tried lots of things but think anything more aggressive is going to destroy the handles.

That was how I got the broken one I made the mold from. That pin was just NOT going to come out! I have some REALLY expensive penetrating oil I might try.

I think it would be easier to cut the door away from the handle than to remove the handle from the door. ;-)
