Well there you are; my estimate appears to be in line with current and past thinking. I still hate to see heavy corrosion on components that can easily be replaced.

Tim, I may be in your neck of the woods in mid-May...are you around for some Southern Utah mining strip camp-outs, including Mineral Canyon, Happy Canyon or Dirty Devil in south-central Utah, and/or Mexican Mountain, Hidden Splendor or Cedar Mountain in the Swell, or some salt-pan flying if we get as far west as western Utah? Looking at WahWah saltpan or Ibex (aka Tule Valley). Depending on weather/times/schedules and all the usual influences.

Rob, your question is spot on. To lord on ,this whole discussion is why I really feel folks in the US anyway are way past due for an owner maintained catagory . This was an honest question by an IA that lacks experience (my guess)in very old aircraft...which will just get more troublesome as time goes on. Our group has an important mission here with the knowledge transfer and information contained in these very pages.

If you can reschedule, consider coming later. We will be in the start of a bad flood season, record snow this winter.

Thank you again everyone for the responses! In answer to Robert Lee's question my IA is in his 30's, he states that of his total experience 25% is on rag wings. He was a Flight Engineer on DC-6's in Alaska. The wing and strut mounts are cleaning up nicely. I will post more pictures when I get a chance.
