  • WAG AERO supplied Fuel tank experiences?

Anyone here have any experiences with WAG AERO supplied fuel tanks? their supplier "Aero Fabricators" recently supplied a friend of mine an exhaust for his Champ. Through a series of mishaps he had to cut into it only to discover a passage way restricted by a huge margin.. I thought I read something hear regarding the fuel tanks from them . Reason for asking is the neck of the main tank on the restoration project is all gooped up with matting etc where it joins the tank. Looks like crap and not a proper job..

I got a main tank from them and was happy with it, and the installation. Dr. Tim will know where to get the rubber "grommet" that goes around the filler neck.

Thank you. For the top rubber seal I always heard a ring cut out of a plunger (preferably new) works well. Kind of like the old ax handle covers for the gear bumper stops...

Tim knows of a rubber gasket/grommet that comes from the automotive industry that is a perfect fit right out of the box. Hopefully he'll see this and respond.

I think that a rubber grommet from an Ercoupe also fits, Univair probably has them.

One from a tractor tank may fit too they use the same collar.

I most made my own by cutting out a round-ish piece from a tractor tire tube (thick rubber) with a pair of pinking sheers for the O.D. and regular shears for the I.D.

Make the I.D. a bit small so it stretches to go on.

The Ercoupe nose tank grommet fits very well and Univar does have them. Been there - done that

Thanks. Yhey also worked with my friend to a resolution. Kind of scary however that just by chance he cut into the exhaust and found the restriction as much as it was. All is well now. Also good to hear their header tank worked well for a member of the tribe!

I have been there a couple times for Rotax training. From the classroom you have to walk down a ramp with new Taylorcraft wing spars hanging on the wall, and into the shop to find the restroom. I remember seeing both wing and nose tanks sitting on their shelves in the shop.

Sounds like a Taylorcrafters Christmas dream of Santa's shops!
