Well I actually bought most of my Poly-Fiber hazchem products direct from the USA...shipping (by sea) was over $600.

This was 4 years ago when there was ony $1.34 to the £ (now there is about $1.75)

Isn't there a stocking dealer iin the UK?

I have a suggestion: Find a fellow here in California named Norm Douthit. He was a long time employee of Stits, then "retired" with a special "sweetheart deal" allowing him to buy the materials at a special price and re-sell them as a small individual business.

Norm offers the Poly Fiber products at very good prices if I recall, and he might have a more user-friendly shipping situation available. I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe it's worth a try.

If you do a Google search for "norm douthit" you will find several recommendations and info about him. He was the most knowledgable tech support guy at the factory for a LONG time.

I met a guy at a fly-in with an absolutely beautiful cover/paint job, it looked like a new plane. I asked, if he didn’t mind my asking, what it cost to have it done. Needless to say, it took everything I had not to look totally shocked when he told me it cost

$30,000.

And I wasted my time by going through electronics school! Lets see...I plan to retire in a couple years....I've covered planes before...maybe I'm not too old to start another career?????

the bc12 d im looking at looks good the fabric is not bad ,but the rib stiching string is cotton and the fabric is not,the a+p would not pass an anual because of this,what do you guys think?its been flying for years like this?? thanks wayne

And what makes him think the cord is cotton?

I would not touch a recover today for less than $15K. That would include some minor repairs, cleaning and inspection before recover. This very subject came up with a client I am redoing an F-24 for. You can basically take the average market value of any rag antique airplane and that is what it would cost to restore the aircraft. There are a few exceptions to the rule but a Cub or T-craft will cost $20K, Fairchild will cost $50K, Waco will cost $80K+. These values are completely restored.

To give an example, a friend of mine sent a upper C-6 Waco wing back to the Classic Waco factory for spar splice and recover. $27,000 later, he got it back. That was one wing repaired, not even new.
