  • looking for 337's

I am working on a repository for 337's filed before 10/1/55. Any 337 before that date is considered approved data. I plan to make this information available on my new website being constructed. I am not just looking for Taylorcraft 337's, but any 337 prior to that date. If you have any send me a DM and will give you my email to send it to. Thanks!

There is one to install a c85 that I posted on the forum, no stc needed if you wanted to go that route! Tim

Tim, or anyone else who might have an idea, how would one search the forum for the referenced document that you referred to?

I have a couple pre 10/1/55. One in 1953 for converting N95984 a BCS-12D A65 to a BCS12-85 1351 GW on floats. Wing and engine/fuel system mods following factory instructions. And another in 1950 for N96631 for converting the engine only from an A65 to C85-12F landplane via 337 and adding a Koppers Aeromatic propeller. Includes flight tests for cooling and fuel flow.

Stroker C-85 get us C-90 performance and close to an O-200.

I will forward data relative to the mods above plus some other useful Factory substantiation to Ragwing nut via his e-mail which he sent.

Gary, you are limited to a 72" prop with the stroker C-85, the O-200 can go all the way to 75" which is a bunch of climb performance.

Tim I have FAA approval for a Sensenich 76AK-2-** propeller. Per TCDS 1P2 it's eligible vibration wise at 74" for the C-85 @ 85hp @ 2575 rated, and C-90 @ 90hp @ 2475 rated. Their 74CK model is listed at 72" for the C-85 and 74" for the C-90. But yes the O-200 can use a 75". Unfortunately in my experience with that prop on a couple of C-85's it requires a pitch range of 35 to 38" max to generate rated rpm (2350) which compromises cruise speed a little...but the climb is nice. An O-200 would perform better of course.

I believe Terry Bowden can approve propellers for his STC. I'm not sure what his model and size limits are currently. See Item 8: https://app.box.com/s/qxv8czv5mwjhjjkyeik3gh27d0i4go6e

Edit: Here's a listing of approved propellers. Any deviation would require DER approval. I suspect that's not a major issue for the 76AK-2-** on a Stroker: https://app.box.com/s/rbet4t039rujj5q96bvayhw3qonukxfj
