  • F-19 values

Not much information about values online, I thought I'd ask the forum.

What would a fair price be for a clean well maintained F-19 with a mid-time engine?

All ADs complied with, fabric about 15 years old but has been kept in a hangar since recover. Older Nav/Comm Transponder.

    Thanks for the feedback.

not near what it should be. high 20's, low 30's if its real nice.

Agreed. Not what they should be which makes them a real value. High 20s is a mx. A show piece might bring low 30s. I have not seen any f19 show pieces. Not saying they do not exist!

Paint "Piper" on the cowl and double the price....but not the value.

Piper's value in the market is like owning gold. Price an old Cub of any variety vs Taylorcraft or Champs. The supply diminishes almost daily while the demand appears to maintain or increase. Support is a factor while others remain hard to maintain.

Piper adapter taylorcraft didn’t that is part of the value, fabric condition can really hurt the value

With any of these old aircraft the cost to recover - parts replacement - engine overhaul can exceed the base value in the market. What might make a difference is shipping a repaired airframe overseas for recover. It starts at $35,000 in Fairbanks for a recover and those that do that work are aging out. My last engine overhaul C-85 Stroker approached $20,000 and that included great help from the former owner who's labor was essentially free when sourcing and relocating parts.

So....an intact F-19 with reasonable engine and fabric at the right price is a value...but even if restored may be a hard sell against a Piper like the PA-11 or even a nice J-3. Forget anything PA-18. Even Champs are commanding increasing prices despite aged out fuselage tubing and engines.

Thank you all for the pricing insights. What would the value of a clean well maintained F21 be?

slightly higher than the F-19. Having owned and flown both I would take the F-21 in a heartbeat.
