Just be aware, it's not an stc that is approved, it is just acceptable data that you will use too get a field approval on an faa form 337 for any of these other methods.

STC SA1-217 is approved. It was issued in 1956 for using screws. In 1992 it was modified to use large flange pop rivets in place of the screws. Several years ago I confirmed with the FSDO that this was still a legal STC.
The problem is the STC owner (Capital Air Service) is long gone. Therefore, there is no way you can "buy" the STC. There are copies available. Many times I have suggested someone in the Taylorcraft world should do whatever is required with the FAA to become the new owner of this STC. This would make the modification legal and clean. You contact the STC owner, pay some money, cover the airplane and submit the STC paper work to the FAA.Ray
