  • C85 operator's Manual

    Hello,

Would anyone happen to have a C-85 operator's manual they would care to share a copy of please? Note, I'm specifically after the operators manual that has the chart plotting RPM vs HP, which is not in the overhaul manual.

Thanks if you can share, Mark

Here's some. To convert the torque to HP from that curve use this (http://spicerparts.com/calculators/h...que-calculator) or multiply torque x RPM/5252.

Thanks Gary! Perfect, what is the source of the engine comparison plot? And what is the definition of the O-200's 9.5 and 10.5.

      Much appreciated, Mark

Mark the engine comparison plot has been floating about in various Cub Forums. Jim C was the originator and his goal in generating them was to infer that the O-200 was capable of outperforming the others....mainly the C-90 which has been claimed to have magical powers of torque. He took Continental's data at a fixed 29"MP and generated the torque curves.

The problem then becomes finding a suitable prop capable of converting the torque for excellent takeoff and climb while also attaining a reasonable cruise airspeed. In a Cub with limited speed range (Vs to Vno) that's not much of a challenge.

The 9.5 and 10.5 refers to the torque available with aftermarket high compression pistons.
