I worked with a few PhD's over the years. Some were bound in a cocoon never to emerge and fly. Others could be depended on to pluck fish from a gill net in the rain late at night.
Tim worked a day job before he was awarded the Degree so is a real person. Not sure about the fish picking though...
Today it's not uncommon to start school as a child and leave in your late '20's or early '30's with a PhD or subsequent Post-Doc...and never hold a full time productive job even in your profession. Summer employment maybe to pay for some of it, and grants plus teaching assistantship for the rest of the studies.
Tim having worked prior to and along with his Degree is commendable.
I considered going for a Doctorate a few years ago. Thought it would be cool to be called Dr Andy. Unfortunately, that's the ONLY reason I wanted a Doctorate. Not worth the cost for an ego trip.
Later!!
Andy
Don't you hate it when you can't come up with something witty or profound for your signature??
