  • AK tribe winter fly-in

It's getting around that time to plan the winter ski fly-in. This year, newlywed Jim Brewer is going to get a well deserved break and I will be organizing the event.
    DATE: March 10-12
Location: Our new cabin at Caribou Lake on the Kenai Peninsula.
    Seward sectional LAT N59 54' 19.3
    Long W151 02' 12.6
All are welcome to spend the weekend or one night or just the day and have some brats. The cabin is fully furnished with stove, fridge and everything needed to cook. Bring your favorite booze, cigars, sleeping bag, dog and campfire story. We have generators for plug-in preheat and I will try to have a small stash of avgas for anyone who may need it. If you have any questions , call me at 907-399-7437.

Hi Bob, sounds like a good time to be had. We have yet to meet and this will be a good opportunity. I look forward to it.

So Jim got hitched huh? What possessed him?
Not really...I understand...Good for him! Congratulations Jim!

Tell us more about the cabin, Bob. Is it new to you or newly built? Caribou Lake is a popular recreation area.

I will call you before the event.

    Regards,

    Jim Hartley

      Jim,
Mike Lunenschloss and I are partners in the cabin that is new and was finished last summer. Well....you know, these things are never really finished.

        Re: AK tribe winter fly-in

Flew out to the cabin yesterday to take a small stash of avgas and checkout lake conditions in my Stinson. Lake is in very good condition for ski flying with no observable overflow and easily spotted small area of open water near the outlet. The cabin is located on the north shore of the lake directly across the island at the east end. Photo of cabin attached.

Yes...I got hitched. She likes to go on flying adventures in the Tcraft. She also likes to get rid of me for a few days while I go on camping trips. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully this perfect ski flying weather continues! I'm still at FedEx...27 years now. No box tossing allowed...you'll end up on Facebook!

If you live in south-central Alaska and Didn't go flying this weekend, you might as well sell your airplane, because it doesn't get any better.
