Re: location off rear baggage support

The reason you have no tabs already is because it is not supposed to have tabs. Along each side tube there is a 6.5" long 1" square piece of wood that has a half round groove cut in one side to fit around the tube. these blocks are wrapped with finishing tape and doped to hold them in place, like the wood pieces on many of the pre war airplanes. The rear cross bar attaches to the end of these pieces on both sides. Here a couple pictures. They are not great, but you will get the idea.

Thanks Tom, the control cables run up the middle of the A/C right under the baggage area unlike the B and on. Could be a bad day if that dropped down!
What engine will your dad be using in his A?

They are pretty secure with that tape/wood method, my bc12d had that also.

The plan, at least my plan is Continental A-40, no brakes, and a tail skid. This fuselage has the forward mounted tail skid/wheel, as well as the pad under the tail post for a traditional leaf spring. Everything is covered through silver except the wings and ailerons, and they are ready for cover. He has built new boot cowl and cowling. I think most everything needed to complete it is there. This project got pushed back while he repaired and restored his 41 Deluxe.

Does he need another A40 engine? if nothing else at least for parts.

I don't know I would have to ask. When I was nosing around yesterday I saw at least 2 A-40 crankcases. We also have a friend who has a complete A-40 with no airplane to mount it on.
