  • Nose Bowl

    Hi tribe,
If I put a fiberglass nose bowl on my BC12D will there be any problem with my AP signing it off. New aluminum is close to a grand. Ouch. Fiberglass from Wag is about a fourth. Any ideas?

If Wag's is a PMA part there will be no issue.

    Is it a PMA part?

If your old one hasn't suffered some kind of sudden trauma, you can probably repair it or have it repaired.
Here's some examples of repairs of the typical week/failure points:

It's a lot of work but you'll end up with a nose bowl that's more durable than new.

Check with your A&P about the installation if you value his opinion and want him to sign it off.

It's kind of a secondary structure thing, so no issue there but it does have a little to do with cooling. Take that into consideration.

If it's from W/A two things are certain, it's not PMA'd and it wont fit. Probably need to make new engine baffles and reposition air box.

            Carrieve,

I have a couple of used nose bowls I was getting ready to put on barnstormers or ebay. One was on my Tcraft and has a few repairs and cracks. The other is used and was purchased to replace my original. It has some repairs but could be a good replacement. After I found the one I just mentioned I was lucky enough to find a N.O.S. nose bowl and used that one. PM me if you are interested. I also have a full set of baffling available.
