I still practice stalls and spins and I have maybe 1000 hours in my airplane, saved my ass a few times. When I was trying to traverse a ridge during a down draft, airplane stalled and spun down a 4500 foot cliff, I recovered the stall and flew down th face of the cliff and reattemped the same crossing at a higher altitude. practice saved my life that day. no chart or manual can beat practice and experience. tim

We need a "Like" button here. Taylorcrafts were built at a time when stalls and spins were considered NORMAL training. Spins training is something the FAA should have never let slide and in a plane like a Taylorcraft. I would NOT consider a normal spin to be acrobatic. I would also NOT just go out and do them without a good instructor until you know what you are doing. Too many pilots of current spam cans don't know how to do them right and you could over-stress the airframe with the wrong pull out technique. It IS something all of us should practice.

I would have NO problem taking grandma out for a little spin once in a while. ;-)
