Hi All
Another update of CF-CLR blog completed this evening

I also wrote some thoughts about BC12D engine cooling based in part on what I knew and in part on what I learned while fabricating the cowlings and baffles for CF-CLR.

Scott, did you put in the aerobatic breather on your engine? Just curious. Tim

Not sure what you mean by aerobatic breather.
I have not yet fabricated the tube but the fitting (brass) is in the case as it was.

I'm aware that some run the breather tube over the top of the cylinders but I won't be doing that. In this part of the world frozen breathers are any issue so wouldn't want to run the pipe on the cold (upper) side of the engine.

Have you considered or looked into 'Flow Forming'? This is the process where a rivet gun with special forming bit is used to do the banging (bashing, hammering, etc). What little I know about it, I got from some videos online. I Googled 'flow forming video' and found a couple of videos by Kent White, the Tinman, that show the basics.

I didn't realize there was a name for it but I've long used my rivet gun for forming. My tooling doesn't hold a candle to what Mr. White has made though. I use masking tape and various bits and pieces of nylon in conjunction with various custom and standard snaps. Clearly I need to improve. Perhaps for my next project, given that the heat shroud is the only part I have left to form for CF-CLR.

Yes, the Tinman has some nice tools. Bit expensive for me to try to experiment with. I cut the end off of an air hammer chisel tool, then welded it into the socket end of a short ratchet extension. I used two sizes of deep well sockets and made some inserts out of a piece of delrin rod. I milled a hex on one end to fit in the socket, and turned the other end to shape it. Tried them on a piece of scrap aluminum with little success. Metal was way too hard to shape. Even with a hammer and shot bag. Will try with better suited material.

I think I will start a new thread to see what other ideas might arise.
