Some keen-eyed readers may recall that I abandoned a Taylorcraft in Oregon last September. The engine issues have been fixed, and I’m planning to fly from Oregon back to Illinois via southern Utah (and other SW places).
I’d like to propose a meet-up in St George, Utah (KSGU), where a vehicle will be hired for me to show fellow Taylorcrafters the beauty of SW Utah for a day or two. I have been visiting the area (by road and foot) for the last 30 years or so, and I’d love to share some of the non-touristy places with like-minded friends
Then fly over the areas we have visited by road.
I will also be visiting Canyonlands airport (KCNY) near Moab for much of the same.
I’d suggest this be sole-occupancy flights, due to the density altitudes.
I don’t have confirmed dates yet, other than I will be in Oregon on 4th May, and I anticipate a day or so fettling (reinstalling the radio etc) so maybe St George on or about the 7th or 8th May. Prior to arriving at St George, I will hopefully go via Mesquite NV to meet Peterroy (of this parish).
Then on to KCNY via some of the most stunning scenery in the USA.
It would be nice to meet up with some of the California, Arizona and other local folk if they wish to make the rather small trip to Utah.
