  • Taylorcraft Story - Hardcover Question

I just got my hands on a hardcover of Chet's book. My paperback version came unglued recently, (and not from over-use). The hardback is much better for longevity's sake.

Those of you who own one, (Hank ?), can you advise if it came with a dust jacket. Obviously, mine does not.

I cannot believe it is now over 23 years old. There are some additional chapters that need to be added to this fine book.

    Thanks in advance!

There was no dust jacket with mine, but its been so long I don't recall if I got it new or used. The hardcover isn't very well bound either, it began to come apart not long after I got it. I may get it rebound some day.

This one must have been gently used, it is almost like-new. Thanks.

Re: Taylorcraft Story - Hardcover Question

I bought mine from Chet and it didn't have a dust cover. The bindings wee not first class, but acceptable if treated properly for the cost and era of the book. You just don't find many books any more that are bound like the old ones from before WW-II.
I did get some books on book binding and spent some time at Colonial Williamsburg with the book binder there. I have re-bound a few on my favorite books and it isn't hard if you can get a decent press and have some patience. My copy of Chets' book will be re-bound when the binding fails.

no dust jacket. Chet personally dropped off a hard copy for me and a soft copy for my grandfather when they first came out. He is listed in the individual acknowledgements. BTW Chet recently sold his DC-65 and his hanger.

Thanks Hank and Mike, apparently they did not come with one. Sorry to hear about Chet selling his plane and hangar.

Well you know he is in his 90's, can't fly forever unfortunately.

I knew he was up there, but not THAT up there. Glad he could do it for so long.
