Model A tapered axle same p/n as Model B tapered axle?

Hi all,

Does anyone have some documentation from parts manuals that substantiates that a A tapered axle same p/n as Model B tapered axle?

They appear to be the same.

I don't know if the axle is the same, but the "A" had both wheels with brakes and no brakes. The wheels with brake used a narrower brake band, 3/4" I think.

none other than the 40-50 taylorcrafts I have parted out and they take the same schinn wheel. only difference on the no brake models is the inner wheel half, but is dimensionally the same where it bolts on the axle. I dont think the axle was made in house, I think it was sourced. If you have access to the L2 drawings you can look at the gear drawing and the axle stub info on it.

I have an "A" model gear leg and have been contemplating using its axle cluster to repair a "B" model.

I see no issue as long as the cluster is already setup for brakes, you might double check wall thickness of the tubing as well just to be sure.
