Now that my TCraft is flying again, I'm looking forward to taking some trips.
I'd like to get a new tent for the overnight trips.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best tent for TCraft camping?
I'm very tall 6'-5" ish. Sometimes my copilot will want to sleep in the tent also.
It has got to fit in the TCraft baggage compartment.

You might try L.L. Bean ( Google them) they usually have what you need.

      Re: Tent

I would recommend the Eureka Timberline series tents for airplane camping. They are free standing, easy to set up and are very rugged. They have served us well from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Circle.
Eureka has a good website that gives all the specs.

Tim Shannon and I have a tent we use from North face it is a 4 man the say but it works well with 2 large persons and it is light at 7 Lbs fits in the baggage of my plane with room to spare and you would fit fine at your height. WE got it at REI sports and they have a web site.

Thanks everybody. These recommendations are right along the lines of what I'm looking for.

            Re: Tent

I lay my tent on the floor beneath the and parallel to the front seat. Stored out of the way, frees up the baggage, and lets you have one that may not fit in the back. Ours is a Coleman 4 place tent which in reality is a nice sized two place tent

                Re: Tent

I have a REI Halfdome that I bought in 04'...it has served me well. It's a two person free standing tent, and fits my 6' frame well plus my lady. REI makes good stuff and has an excellent return/warranty policy. Not to mention, they seem to have stores in most major cities I've been to lately.

I was thinking that 4lbs was light, 7 is like carrying a gallon of milk...

                    Re: Tent

If you have a large sporting goods store like a Cabelas or something similar, they often have tents set up so you can actually see what they're like rather than looking at a picture. Get a tent that will sleep at least one more person than you plan to have in it unless you like being really cozy. Tent capacities are very optimistic.
