How the hell did we get from CHT and exhaust problems to bending wing struts?
You took us down the exhaust path by saying, "and a wish list for Luscombe exhaust.".
The jump to struts was a little bigger. Jstall saw that Terry had posted in this thread, and posted to ask him a question. I doubt he realized that it was an old thread that you resurrected, and didn't notice that Terry's post was from 2015.
No sir, I did not take us down the exhaust path by saying "and a wish list for Luscombe exhaust.". I took us down the exhaust path by posting the fix to the problem identified in the initial post of this thread.
I doubt Airframes bent an existing strut with heat to affect a change in end angle. Dick Smith would know but my guess is that they built a second P/N with increased offset. FAA regs and all that but could be wrong as usual.

I just talked with Airframes Alaska and inquired about how they build the two differing struts, regarding the angled upper ends.
I was told that the basic jig is the same, but that the differing angles built into the upper end are obtained by using a removeable portion of the jig. They bolt on the particular portion that will give them the desired angle. I was assured that heating and bending the lug was not the method used.
I have no financial interest in the company, but I believe AA is a first class outfit. This link will give you a glimpse into their facility, regarding layout and equipment.
