  • low and 'sorta' slow - video

A friend of mine is a former Air Force and current Southwest Airlines pilot. He hasn't flown in a small GA airplane since the mid-90's. I offered him a flight in my '46 BC12-D and he jumped at the opportunity.

Here's some video of our flight.

I gave him the wheel for a bit and for a jet jock he did just fine. We had a great flight.

Sorry, we couldn’t find that page

        Really nice, fun to watch.

Can you make one also when he returns the favor and you a fly and 757 down the same river?

Arizona landscape is sure different than the east and it looks like a lot of fun.

I am afraid to make one of my own, suspicion of my stupidity is sufficient, no need to verify it.

I would probably end up filming my first ground loop

BTW , DJ looks like he did some stalls. I was impressed with what appeared to be a shallow angle. Am I correct were them stalls in there? What airspeeds were involved? Or am I all wet and there were no stalls?

It's great fun taking an airline pilot flying, like what DJ's just done.

Too many airline pilots haven't been in a light aircraft for decades since they first started, and will start a flare at 200 feet (a lot is all about to change, mind you).

Many have forgotten what flying "out of the window" is about.

            Nice video

GoPro 3+ with a RAM mount that is clamped to the jury strut

Now that would be a sight to behold!!!

Yep that was a power off stall. Stall broke at 45mph. He was being gentle on it. I told him to haul back on the yoke all the way and let 'r rip! He eased into it. Probably was waiting for the stick shaker to rip it from his hands!

He had a great time. Too bad I couldn't bargain for a ride in a USAF T-6 II. He did IP in those for a few years before leaving the AF.

                Hey DJ,

Nice video, and Little 15 brought back some fond memories of DM concerts in the 80s and 90's. I saw others mentioned asking how you mounted your camera to the strut and I know you used a RAM mount, but there is a better alternative to the RAM mount and it gives video with less jello vibration. I sell my own custom designed GoPro mounts for airplane wing struts and have just about every wing strutted GA aircraft in the 2 to 4 plac category. Also works on biplane cabanes and such. Below is a pick on a taylorcraft. The owner is Martin Towsley and he is a member of the group. I have a few links below to some pics of the mount on various aircraft as well as a few videos. Anyone interested in buying one can email me at the address below.

This is a video of a Bearhawk running a Canyon in Elko NV. There is a bit more jello on this than usual since Mike is working the throttle abruptly sending on and off waves of engine vibration through the airframe. Still a fun video..

                Take care,

PS:My username is a bit old since i joined this group in 2009 and was more of a glider guy at that time. Now im more into GA flying a 172 that I rent. Hope to buy a low and slow aircraft soon.
