I know that we're all tired of the wing strut issue, AD 2008-04-09. I have a set of never used struts, I can't call them new because the set was purchased in May 1978 from Taylorcraft Aviation Corp. These struts were in the original shipping tubes and not opened until last year. The cost of these struts was $140 ea for the front and $130 ea for the rear, shipping was $20. in 1978. Now I need to deal with the AD. I decided to go with Wag Aero for inspection lube and seal, so that I don't have to deal with this issue again. Bridget at WagAero is the strut contact person that gave me all the information needed to get the job done. The thing that got under my skin the most was the cost of shipping. My cost to ship from Connecticut was over $190 each way using R&L freight. If you have a shipping account with with shippers the cost is considerably lower. I called Bridget and asked if they would allow me to ship using their account number; she said sure and gave me the WagAero shipping number. The cost using the WagAero number is about 80% cheaper. If you want to ship your struts using their number, give her a call. She said would happy to help you out.
