That looks like an original 41 Deluxe panel. Whoever gets it, PLEASE trace the parts. There are very few 41 Deluxe's around, but the panels are REALLY rare! You don't by any chance have the support piece for the instruments that goes behind it do you? I have a set of tracings I used to tap out my panel but the original I used to make them was badly distorted. I would really like to know how close I got.

      Hank,
I don't think I have the support piece. What does it look like? I have boxes of stuff and it could be in one.

I made mine from some old photos and reverse engineered it so the outside shape is probably not perfect. The drawing is for the one with the big tach.

If what your saying about the panel being REALLY rare! Maybe I should change my first post to (No offer is high enough).

The pre-war support piece looks familiar, glad you kept the photo of the tracing Hank. I made it from a spare panel that I had, and then gave the support panel to someone on this forum that needed one. I still have the tracing, somewhere...

I have tracings of LOTS of parts. My biggest problem is sorting through them all. ;-)
I like to photograph and draw every part that passes through my hands. Never know when I might find another Taylorcraft I haven't seen before and need something. The evolution of the design can be traces through the doors, control wheels, door handles, instrument panels, cowls, inlet grills, wing ribs........ They were ALWAYS changing little details, many of which can help you date a part.

I have one hanging from the wall, its not beautiful but would make a good pattern. Tim

                    Tim,

Thanks. I might take you up on that later. I have a bigger problem now. The FBO that was doing the annual on my '41 (and installing a new fuel tank) has been run off the airport. The plane has been down since February 4th! They're trying to work things out while I languish.

I can still come down...if you so desire or you can fly it to my hanger. Tim

                          Peter,
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you until now. I've been away for few weeks. Anyway yes I still have the Instrument panel.

Tim, Thanks for the offer. I got an email from the St. George Airport Manager who said there has been an ongoing problem with my A&P and he suggested I go to one of the FBOs on the field and have them finish the work that my guy started. Since the fuel tank is out and some other stuff is being powder coated, I am SOL for a little while. Again, thanks for the offer. If I figure out a way to get the airplane off of SGU I'll let you know.

Norm, Thanks for getting back to me. A new panel is now on the back burner!
