  • Perimeter tape on trailing edge of rudder. The light socket problem

I'm trying to figure how to run perimeter tape along the trailing edge of the rudder with that light socket ring mount thingy in the way. How did you address that problem? - Mike

Tape up to socket from top and bottom, then make a large doilie and wrap it around and cover the 2 tapes. Tim

Tim/John - am I rephrasing this correctly? Cover the socket with an oversized doily leaving a skirt long enough to extend past the tubing. glue in place. When dry, shrink fit. Then apply perimeter tape like you would around a hinge fitting, that is, cut a hole in the tape and let the socket poke thru. glue in place. Correct? ( I can't make anything easy!) Mike

I would put on the perimeter tape, the one that follows the trailing edge on first then do the doilie which is large enough to cover the ends of the 2 tapes. Tim
