I'm looking for a non-airworthy or questionably airworthy tapered shaft prop hub to buy for non aviation use. I have a yellow tagged prop hub that I'd like to sell (what's it worth?) and I would hate to see it used for a non aviation use since good prop hubs are getting hard to find. If you have a non airworthy one for sale let me know. Call me at 907-399-7437. Don't forget I'm in Alaska time zone.

Re: Tapered shaft prop hub
Bob,
I have one that is cracked along the keyway.
I think it could be welded up for non aircraft use.
I also have brand new one that is still in the original wrapping that I purchased from Lou Liebee in the '80s. I would look on ebay completed sales to find values. I recently say on sell for $290, ebay item #141208068515. I would not even purchase that hub for $5 after seeing the pitting on it.

Re: Tapered shaft prop hub
The pitted and cracked ones make GREAT engine stands. You drill a block out to hold the hub with the hole straight up and bolt the block to a table top. Crank goes in the hub and you can build up the whole engine just like an expensive stand.
I just painted the cracked hub red at the start so I wouldn't accidentally confuse it with my good ones. It is one time where the corroded and pitted one would be better than a good one. Just sand blast and paint it. The pits will still show so you don't accidentally try to USE it!
