    Re: Maule tailwheel

I ordered some parts from Spruce last October to rebuild my spare Maule tailwheel. I received some of the smaller parts but the most expensive, and biggest, part is still on back-order for who knows how long. Glad you got yours heading your way.
    Cheers,
    Marty

      Marty:

Im also rebuilding the spare pneumatic Maule TW. I place an order back in July 2013 at OSH for two (2) small pins that cost less than $ 2.00/ea...which are still on back order. If I go to a fabricator, it will cost me $ 10 each !!!. Hope the TW that is on now will last a few more years until the order come thru

        Ralph,

I am waiting for those two small pins, too! Those and the steering arm.
        Cheers,

Thanks, already checked on that, nothing I need. I need new, non-worn, stuff to tighten up my spare
            Cheers,

You can buy parts from Maule direct. You don't have to wait for AC Spruce.

The Maule tailwheel arrived today, looked it over and can't wait to put it on. All new and the wheel looks like it will last a long time.

Hank, you out there? How is Ray doin?

                  Re: Maule tailwheel

I just received a Maule hard tialwheel tire from aircraft spruce that I ordered about a year ago. I had to buy an entire tailwheel assembly three months ago just to get a new tire. glad to have one in inventory now!

Not wanting to start a war or anything, but if I needed a tail wheel I would get a Lange.

Forget the make, but have the equivalent of a Lange on it now.

I'm here, just too darned cold for the hangar (for me, Ray is out there almost every day, but he has a better heater than I do). He has been rebuilding a Cub Cruiser and it is a real beauty (even if it is from the "P" stable). Just finished my FAA Safety contract and hope to get some airport time in to get my Annual done. Now I will have time, but no money, before I had money, but no time!

Hank that is the story of my life. Over seventy years young, running a small business so I can fly my planes and I don't have any time to fly. What's wrong with this picture?

We are living similar lives, at least in part. You are actually flying, while I am doing consulting to keep people alive while they do it. Just finishing up my FAA contract and focusing on Taxes when my mother fell and broke her arm. NASTY compound fracture, but good surgeon. She has the erector set on her arm and is pretty frustrated. Once I get caught up a little, hopefully it will be full speed on getting the "T" flying!

                            Hank

Got two sets of bungees to send out that got delayed a bit by home emergencies. Will try for tomorrow. Got the boxes and just need to get them to the post office now. Only one set of 9091s left.

                              Re: Maule tailwheel

A little follow-up, I just got off the phone with Maule. Regarding the hard tailwheel tire version, the company that did their vulcanization stopped making the hard tires. It took about a year with the FAA to get the the new manufacturer to get FAA certification and they, as some people have discovered, are now shipping those.

As regarding other parts, Maule has been shipping or is about ready to ship other parts to distributors that have been slow in coming. No reason for the wait given.
                              Cheers,
                              Marty
