Guys, I popped back in here to make sure the CA Taylorcraft contingent knew about this. Accept my apologies if this is already being handled.
Harry Dellicker at Del-Air in Porterville has passed away. He was an icon in local aviation circles, but he had done something really crappy from our point of view. Harry had taken ownership of a T-craft in exchange for some debt, or as an IOU, and he let the airplane nearly disintegrate into the ground on a tiedown at Porterville over a long period.
Many people, including me, had asked him to sell it or donate it, to no avail.
Now that he is gone, can someone PLEASE go get that airplane and save it, or use it for parts, or manage to do something? That airplane has sat there dying for many years, and it deserves to be saved.
Someone go negotiate with the family, or the estate, or just f***ing put it on a trailer and steal it. I would, but I'm up to my arse in projects, my 172 is up on blocks in my hangar, and I recently found out I will be unemployed.
Can you guys in the Central Valley get together and do something? This is a travesty and it would be a triumph of good over evil to save that airplane.
Sorry for sticking my nose back in like this after all this time...
