    Re: Original throttle cable

Aren't there other 60 year old parts on your plane? If it is in good condition..why change it out? Or...does it show signs of wear.

Don't know about the rest of you, but my throttle friction STINKS! It works "OK" but not like it should. Once I am flying it is one of the things I want to re-work. The cable really needs to be pulled out, cleaned and lubed to make it work smoother too. Got to figure out how to do that yet. Easy if you plan to completely rebuild it, not so much if you just want to do some normal servicing.

If I remember correctly, I used a heim joint that was for a 1/4x28 shaft and a #10 bolt with an AN970 washer to hold everything together if the heim fails. It was one of the nicest repairs I did. Tim

Sure a lot better than what they did at the factory originally! The joint has some alignment movement available that gets rid of some of the binding and the threads allow you to adjust the length a little without having to get in the tight hole where the clamp is to move the whole cable assembly.
