Re: It Wont Be Official Till Next Thursday But.....

I don't think that interior is that bad. I know when I first saw the seat in mine my nose wrinkled a little, but my ferry pilot said it was the most comfortable aircraft he's ever sat in.....and he's been in some awesome planes, from P-51D's to some cool Airforce stuff. After spending some time in mine I'm going to leave it alone, I prefer to have fuel and my bladder dictate time aloft vs. a sore rear.

    BTW, nice plane and congrats.

Congrats! I know a guy who makes new instrument panels to get more of an original one back in her if you are interested. If you don't like those hubcaps I'll buy them from you. Seriously, those are made of unobtanium so make sure you hang onto them.

You will have loads of fun with your new airplane. Looking at the pictures you might want to have someone check out
        AD 51-09-03 for you.

you had me scared there for a minute - there's a doo-higgy on the other side that flips over and onto the fuel control valve to lock in place - you just cant see it from the photo. I prefer the large aluminum flappy thingies instead. Will change it out once I find the right thingamjigger.

Sorry I was using such technical talk.

Marty - are you talking about these?

I will eventually be upgrading the brakes (Terry Bowden has got something brewing) and wheels - so I'd ASSUME that I'll be getting rid of these - so You'll have first dibs.

Oh.....and I'll be calling the guy about the panel FIRST.

Sounds good, Sean. I just redid my entire interior, new inst. panel and upholstery. It is amazing how much it changes the plane. I will have to post some pictures soon. Don't hesitate to ask questions, I remember my first BC-12 and I had lots of questions.
              Cheers,

RE: Upholstery - I'm thinking Pleather/vinyl and not cloth. As "Chunk Yeager" - I tend to perspire.......a lot. Yeah, the seat will reflect that moisture back up, but at least it wont absorb it leaving an odor....such as those suggested above. I dont want the stink.

                Thoughts?

I did mine in leather, sod the weight!

I also used 3 layers of energy-absorbing foam for the seat cushion.

Bloody English!!! Always trying to bring us Irish down

I'm kidding....if it wasn't for the English, the Irish would have to find someone else to make fun of!!!

Next time you're in town, look me up and I'll buy you a Guinness!!!!

Doh! Hands up! I should have looked more closely at the spelling of both your first & last names and made the connexion. Guinness is not called "Stout" for no reason, judging by your build! (at least you're not Welsh...they spell it "Shawn" because they can't spell "shorn)" !!

I'd take you up on your kind offer, but we might have to meet elsewhere in the US (say somewhere like Oshkosh?). Last time I was in Saginaw (well-named by the Indians with a sense of future irony) was in 1989, and everyone was...shall we say "sagging" ?...even back then.

No worries Robert - I now live about an hour north of Saginaw - at the rate they're killing one another there, nobody will be left to turn off the lights.

To be honest - I CANT STAND Guinness.....I'm an Irish Whiskey and Scotch Whiskey Drinker - I'll leave drinking the dark sludge to the kids.

Thanks Kev, and because of our PM conversations, I got in touch with Terry Bowden and I've discovered a problem. Hoping that it does not affect the sale of the airplane next week. It has been missed by everyone till Kevin and i chatted off line.

Stressing but not freaking yet. Keeping my fingers crossed. The seller is bending over backwards to attempt to rectify the problem.

Plane's doing good. I ran into a little carb problem do to all the car gas use, and sitting she did. I drained everything out and pulled the plug in the carb bowl. I gave it a good flush with and sit with 100LL. She idles nicely now with 100LL and MMO so I'll keep running that for the time being.
