  • Paranoid?

Well I just notice today that I am being investigated because someone at my airport said I was Illegally modifing airplanes. This aircraft I worked on was from over 3 years ago. My only savings grace is that I can access copies of the 337's for the modifications that were done when the airplane was recovered. Some people wonder why I can be so anal about paperwork and documentation, this is why....hope it never happens to you. Just the stress is almost overwhelming. Tim

Sorry for the stress Tim. PITA
I just got my wrist slapped by FAA for doing something perfectly safe, but applied the wrong regulation to the situation. Sucks to be me.
    Best Regards,

      Re: Paranoid?

Been there done that, feel for ya. Iron clad paperwork is your only friend. The only way that it could come to this is if the FAA has inspected the airplane and found what they "think" is an issue. The worst side of this is if you beat there little inspection and the a-hole inspector gets his wrist slapped, he might make it a mission to make your life hell. Been there, done that too.

I went to an IA refresher years ago, and the best thing I ever heard was his opening statement regarding logbooks. He said when your filling out logboooks, you should address them "dear judge", because at somepoint in your career, you could very well end up in court saying, "dear judge".......

So I submitted the 337 to the FAA that were in question. I hope they don't play English major and violate me for a grammar problem.

Well I got a response from the FAA today, they were satisified that I had accomplished the modifications in accordance with approved data. It is over.!!!

I really need to find out who filed the complaint, so I can avoid them....

                  Re: Paranoid?

Back in the early '90's I was invited (by a guy long dead at this time) to the clubhouse of his motorcycle group. The purpose was to view the two bottles on their fireplace mantle, each of which contained a pair. I declined the visit as it was 3:00 am down along the old Dodge plant in Detroit and I had already enough excitement for one night.

The only good thing about that night was that I got the makings for my 1947 Indian chief, and I learned something about taking action when you really, really mean it.
