    Re: Video Clips

You must have the smaller ND film over there across the pond, Rob, I can only find the bigger stuff over here. I would have to cut it down.

If you want to see strange prop effects, I took this with my Flip Video camera. Rotax 447 with two blade composite prop on my former Air Bike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcdSX9AK3gQ

      Re: Video Clips

I purchased 1 foot square of ND film and punched circular discs out of it with a hole punch. $8 worth of ND film makes 1000 or more. What do I do with the rest?

It helps if you understand how modern electronic camera shutters work, compared with "old fashioned" shutters.

These new-fangled things (as seen on digital GoPro's, I-Moans etc) have no moving parts, so to reduce the "shutter" speed (of course there isn't a shutter), you have to fool the "aperture" into thinking that there is less light than it thinks it is receiving, to achieve the same light level. So the silly digital machine opens its "shutter" for slightly longer for each "frame" than it would otherwise do.

Funnily, that's exactly how old cameras used to do it, when the operator had control...now we have to fool these new-fangled devices.

So a good ND2 filter kids the electronics, it reduces the "shutter speed", and bingo! the prop artefacts reduce. To the human watching the final video, the light levels are the same (assuming a decent light level in the original footage).

Here's my GoPro 2 case with & without the ND2 filter:

Just a stock '39 BC-65. I used to do a dead stick aerobatic routine in it, but that's been a few years ago-

                Walter,

It is a Schweiss door. They are based in Fairfax, Minnesota, 507-426-8273. I believe they run about $9 thousand plus shipping. Which was about another $3 thousand to Alaska.

I really like the door. It allows full height access into the hangar. I have a 14-ft ceiling and I can get the C185 in while on floats.

Thankyou for the information on the hangar door, it looks wonderfull , I will be in the market for one later, I may call Schweiss door just to talk with them, but that is a bit above what I will be allowed to spend. Just the same you never know .

C'mon, Walter. There is what you are 'allowed' to spend and what you need to spend.

Robert, I would purchase a strip for my GoPro?

My first attempt with my gopro. Figured out some setting since then. You tube cut off my still photos at the end of the video... Took my 14 mo son Blake for his first Taylorcraft ride. He has many hours in the backseat of our Pacer.
