  • What to do on the best flying weather weekend of the summer? (OT)

You go for a canal trip of course!

The weather has been dreadful all summer here in Europe, but over this weekend just gone, fourteen members of our aero club took a weekend break on two narrow boats in Warwickshire & Northants. Being a club with a very active social scene means that non-aviation activities are common.

The late summer sunshine brought out the rowdiness in some who had been cooped up too long...

The long motor down the fume-filled Braunston tunnel brought tears to the eyes:

A small glass of what does you good:

We found a splendid place to eat one evening, the New Inn at Long Buckby Wharf. The food was excellent, as was the service & humour of the landlord.

We even got some twin time!

We'll probably do this again in the near future! We just hope the weather will be as kind.

Cheers Rob! I'll have to show these pics to the wife, as you know this is something she feels that we have to do also after seeing the canals and boats around your area last fall.

Rob, some time when you are here you will have to schedule a day on the Mississippi with me on the Cookie Cutter. I have a 41' (12 1/2 meters to you!) X 14' (over 4 meters) houseboat on the River that we, my wife and I, spend every weekend on. Two bedroom, two bath, heated and air conditioned. Plenty of room for guests. She is located about 2 hours West of Broadhead WI. Google Galena, IL. and you will see the country where I live and the boat is located. About 3 and 1/2 hours from Oshkosh. Larry Lyons
