  • 2016 West Coast Taylorcraft Rendezvous

All are welcome to attend the largest gathering of Taylorcrafts on the west coast this May 13th & 14th at the Reedley Airport (032), California, about 18 miles south east of Fresno. Mark your calendar now as it is only three months away, get the aircraft ready and plan for the adventure.... invite your friends as well.... all are welcome. Plan on coming on Friday May 13th and stay as long as you like. A camping area is available but for people that want it, there are motels nearby and our host Ken Andrews will help get you to and from. Activities include a fly-out Saturday for breakfast (8:30am departure) to Woodlake (042) and a spot landing contest. Of course there will be plenty of time to relax and renew old friendships. Ken plans to show a few slides about his OSH trip last year which I'm sure will be enjoyable.

Please RSVP for Friday and/or Saturday night dinners so we can have a head count for food. Call Ron Sawyer at 209-536-9415, or Ken Andrews at 559-259-0876 if you have any questions. I hope to see you there.
    Happy landings

    So near yet so far.

I'm expecting to be in Utah just 400 miles ENE of Reedley but a week earlier.

Barring weather or mechanical complications I plan on being there both days. How warm are the nights there that time of year? If not too hot I plan on camping.
      Cheers

Jim- Good to hear that you plan to come. I looked at the Yahoo weather trend for May and the highs are about 90F and lows about 55 or 60F... well suited for camping. By the way I wrote a short article for the In Flight USA magazine publicizing the event.... look for it in the March issue.

Re: 2016 West Coast Taylorcraft Rendezvous

The Rendezvous is now just about a month away and based on calls so far we have seven planning to fly their Taylorcraft in and another two or three possibly attending with their Taylorcraft. A few others have called and plan to drive in or fly (non-Taylorcrafts) in. The Reedley airport will be having their annual small town airport day/open house that Saturday so there will be other aircraft attending and special activities including a guest speaker. This is expected to be an enjoyable event.
Hope you can make it if only for the day.

Barring any unforeseen issues I plan on attending. Should be flying down Friday morning getting there around noon or so. This will be the second West Coast Taylorcraft Rendezvous I have attended but the first one I will have brought my bird to. Stoked and looking forward to it.

Im very interested in attending, but I doubt my Taylorcraft will be ready. I hope you will allow me to sneak in with the Rocket (I'll park way in the back, out of sight).

Michael- You are of course welcome with or without your Taylorcraft. There are a few people planning to come who don't have a flying Taylorcraft so we understand. Right now 9 Taylorcrafts are scheduled to attend... yours would make it 10 if you were able to make it. See you in a few weeks.

OK a big THANK YOU to all who have helped, and maintain this indispensable site and especially clear_prop1961! I think I have a good wheel it is on its way. It should be exactly what is needed, after some TLC the correct barring's and some paint I be back in the air. Might just make it to the rendezvous after all !!!

Re: 2016 West Coast Taylorcraft Rendezvous

I see that a breakfast fly out is scheduled for Saturday. When is the "gang" typically back at home base? I might drop in for breakfast, but I will most likely go direct to the main event... Just trying to time my arrival properly since I only have a small time window.

Also, any update on the final numbers of Taylorcraft's expected?

Michael- The fly-out breakfast is scheduled for take-off at 8:30am, breakfast at 9am and returning at about 11am... give or take a little. I believe there is planned a spot landing contest at the fly-out location. Regarding Taylorcraft numbers if you make it 9 or 10 Taylorcraft are expected.
                          Hope to see you there.

OK, I plan on being there, perhaps even both places, but I'll be in the Rocket this year. I'll have a prop card to prove that I "belong", but just in case it blows away, don't throw any rotten eggs at this airplane:

Well thanks for puting on a nice event. It was nice to meet everyone. Next year I hope to leave the Rocket at home and arrive in style in my BL. Let us know where and when.
