      Re: looking for T-Craft

The fellow who built it is a retired school teacher, manual arts, taught primarily welding. He won first prize with it a few years back at Sentimental Journey. The paint is 1946 Deluxe taylorcraft factory paint scheme according to him. Like Hank, he is a wooden prop person, I am not. He claims its a climb prop and that I will really like it so I'll give it a try. I'd rather get off quickly and give up a few mph as a T-craft isn't going to burn up the sky anyway. Its got a battery for nav. lights and radio only. No starter, etc. I've always thought T-Crafts were best looking small airplane going. FUN to fly and easy on the wallet even with gas the way it is today. JC

        Re: looking for T-Craft

My TCraft suffered from a hangar collapse years ago: 3 of 4 spars broken,
wing struts (3) ruined, windshield busted. I had it rebuilt. And I've seen a completely flattened Champ brought back to life. So, there may be life left in your TCraft. Good luck. I know how you feel.

It makes me happy just to LOOK at it! The fact that the metal one works better and is more expensive doesn't enter into my decision. I'm in no hurry to get anywhere anyway.

What is the metal prop? What wood prop are you running? I'm trying to find the right prop for my 75 T

          Thanks Chuck

This is sort of embarassing but.....The prop on the current one, the one the hangar collapsed on has a large nice spinner that covers the prop number. The one I am getting is said to be a climb prop but I didn't ask the number. First is meatal, the latter is wood. Sorry, JC

Well, I thought my metal prop was in the guest bedroom. Just checked and it isn't there. Sure hope it is out in the hangar.
I don't think it would be much help to you though. I have a 65HP Cont in my plane, not a 75.

Gentlemen: google gabrobbins aviation and you will see soon the salvage co.s bid on my taylorcraft that was in the hangar collapse. They are deciding the price very soon. I was VERY pleased with the service Avemco gave me. I had never had a claim in 25-30 years. They paid me promptly. There are alot of nice parts on this t-craft. Its a real find for a good builder. Good luck! JC

I found the planes they have for salvage at

but there was no Taylorcraft. I hate to see this plane bought by someone who will just part it out. Really depressing if that happens.

                      Re: looking for T-Craft

Hank: I agree with you! I had the chance of first refusal but declined it. I didn't have anyplace to store it and knew in the end I'd wind up on the short end of the stick. Rumor has it that it will go for around 7000.00. They are settling on the bid price now so it should appear very soon.....or... someone will grab it before it goes public. A good rebuilder could repair it and have a real fine T-Craft. Once again if you go to taylorcraft aircraft photos, scroll to # 6 you can see what it looked like in Mayville, n.y. last summer. JC.
