Jack I think I have the cast style wheels that are mounted in the T-craft carcass which is hanging in my shop. I can't imagine needing them to fly for quite a while. I'll be glad to put them on long-term loan to you if you can use them. That way you can take time and search for another "permanent" set while you're flying. Sorry, that isn't a picture of my wheels. Got that for my files so I could post pictures of the different types. There was a time when I was going to write an article on all the different control wheels used in Taylorcrafts. Another one of those things I haven't had time to do.
I do have one extra Pretzel wheel, but it is in REALLY nasty shape. It is restorable, but only as a true dedicated effort.

They really are very comfortable to use. I like the heart wheels better, but they were also pretty rare. Maybe we need to make some tooling to make "wheelbarrow control wheels", they aren't that complex to weld up and they could be dumped in a barn to be "discovered" as a cache of NOS parts later.
I didn't really say that. If there was tooling, we could set up a kit of parts to build owner manufactured parts to keep it legal. Not that hard and we could develop some new skills.

Univair still has a stash of new pretzel wheels. They are bored out for 7/8" Ercoupe control shafts but it's easy to bush them to fit the Taylorcraft shaft. They come with maroon trim, but I have black and red trim pieces as well as the centers.

This set of Pretzel wheels look a LOT better than the one I have left over. Whoever buys them please let the rest of us know what the deal is with the spacer/bumper just in front of the wheel on the shaft. Mine has bumpers on the firewall tube to stop the control from bottoming out. Never saw the shaft spacers before.
Whoever buys them, there may be Pretzel Balls still available and the shafts can be re-chromed (just don't forget to DEMAND that the plating shop do a Hydrogen embretilement bake immediately after removal from the plate tank.
You will also need to throw away the screw and nut the seller is using to hold the wheel to the shaft. It is supposed to be a pin and the screw head and nut will interfere with the trim ball. Not a big deal.

Hank - I don't believe ours has either of these--spacer/bumper. I'm headed to the hanger in a few minutes and I plan to take a closer look to make sure I haven't missed noticing them before. Do you have a picture of the "bumpers on the firewall tube" on your aircraft?

I have the ones for the 45 in a box at SFQ somewhere. I don't know if they can even be seen in the 41 anymore. If I bend over and reach forward to where the chain gear would bump the firewall with the controls full forward I can feel them on the 41, but can't be sure I can see them.

FYI all
The bumper actually goes on a tube on the pilots side. It is positioned on the tube where the pilots sprocket shaft hits the tube. Hope this helps

I sure could use some hub CAPS so to say the center piece on them, on Hanks pictures the upper right wheel is the closest that matches mine.
This really makes you wonder "how in hell did they put the parts together__ oh this looks good, or well we still have this, war effort and all. I know that from the log books that I have ALOT of people built up time to go to war in mine

The upper right one is the pretzel wheel.
Got pictures of more stuff including the bumpers. I'll attach them tonight as soon as my back stops hurting. The bumpers are on the firewall tubes but funny thing is my control parts never even get close to them. Looks like they have never been bumped since 1941.

By hub caps do you mean John Coopers Pretzel Balls (like the avatars on the NY86 posts)? I think there may still be some available. A bunch of us bought them not to long back.
I am attaching the pictures of the bumpers below. The disgusting paint color isn't rust, it's the color of my plane when I bought it. Understand why I repainted her? She was a BEAUTIFUL lady in an UGLY dress.
The next picture is of the Banjo wheel Mike Lutz sent me (my T wheel is on the left, the mystery wheel is on the right). It's not a Taylorcraft Banjo and I haven't seen one like it before. Anybody recognize it? It could be cleaned up into a nice wheel and if someone knows what kind of plane it came from maybe we can get it to someone who needs it as much as some of the parts we need.
