Looking for control yokes

I would like two crescent moon shaped yokes if you have them. I need a matched set.

Which ones do you mean? The photos are of the Pretzel and the Banjo wheels. They were used on the planes around the WW-II era with the Banjo on the 41 Deluxe (pretty hard to find, I am still looking for a second one). The Pretzel was used until the cast post war ones came out. I always thought the 40 had the big round wheels.

I have the wheel type controls, I like them and don't want to sell them. They hang below the instrument panel and make it difficult to get in and out with large boots and several layers of clothes on. If I have a choice I would choose the post war cast type but if they are not available the pretzel type would work just fine. Thank you for informing me on the banjo type, I love them.

Here are photos of the 3 main types of wheels together for comparison. The top left is the "modern" cast wheel, top right is the pretzel and bottom is the round one. I have also put in a photo of what I think was the best wheel used on Taylorcrafts, the heart wheel. It was used after the Banjo (when Taylorcraft found out they were ridiculously expensive to make and maintain) and before the Pretzel came out (which were actually made in large numbers and ended up on Aircoups and Cessnas too).
There is a whole history of wheels alone that is actually pretty interesting. I even have photos of the stick that could be put through the wheel hole somewhere. I can't imagine that was very comfortable to use.
If anyone has an old Banjo wheel (in any condition) let me know. It is one of the few parts I am missing for my "41 Deluxe".

Hank,I think I have a banjo style wheel in the barn.It came off a 41 deluxe I rebuilt years ago.I will get back in touch with you in day or so,I,ll look for it and let you know.

I just re-chromed my Banjo wheels at a place that specializes in good quality chrome. I also did the control column/rod through the panel. The spokes were very rusty and the column pipe chrome was wore through to the brass. $560!!!!!! But boy, they are pretty now.......

I may have a pair of cast wheels, think I have at least one. I do have a pair of the standard pretzel wheels and new centers for them. One is slightly bent from accident (pushed foward, not out of shape). If you decide to trade I would do that as well

That's great! Now if I can just get my breathing back to normal after seeing what the rebuild cost Larry for just one. Looks like I need to set up a garage Chrome tank and brush up on my plating engineering from 20 years ago.

That price was for two complete yoke and column assemblies. The small wires are what drove it up. 16 small wires had to sand blasted, sanded, buffed back to a high polish before chrome plating. The column pipes were $80 a piece but the wires were $25 a piece, "all 16 of em"! I powder coated the yoke itself, next time I would entertain powder coating the spokes too. Next time..like there is ever going to be a next time!

If I get a second wheel I will overhaul them myself and let all know how much it costs (in hours and Dollars). When I do that it usually comes out cheap on Dollars and OUTRAGEOUS on time.
