    Hey Richard,

      Rob,
No I don't have shielded ignition, but I can live with the noise. I just turn it down after I get away from the airport.
I used to own an Aeronca Champ, and sometimes it was hard to start in wet weather. "Eismanitis", my mechanic called it. I used to remove the cover and wipe moisture out with my handkerchief. That would usually do it.

I never had that trouble myself...even hangaring in a damp-ish hangar. I guess a squirt of WD40 might keep things damp-free?

If you can find it we used a spray called 81309 (I think that was preceded by MIL-S) in the Navy. It is a water displacement spray that we used on any electronics or metal on metal skins that tended to get a fine film of water and corrode. Really great stuff, but I haven't seen a can since the late 80s.

Had a chief with Eisi mags that was hard to start in any kind of dampish weather.
A new coil from Fresno replaced the crack one on the impulse & started 1st pull just like these old Continentals are supposed to.
