    Pretzel centers

Now I need a set of pretzel centers in red...they are unavailable from Univair...who was it who needed persuading to cast some new ones? Hank?

      Glen:

I could use those banjo wheels. Contact me at [email protected] and we can work out the details.

If Glen doesn't need both of those Banjo wheels I would like one. I have one for the 41 and have been looking for another.
And also, yes, I am the one with the mold for the center balls for the pretzel wheels. My top priority right now is to get the 41 painted so I can get back in the air so the balls are still back burnered. Want to do some casting?

          Pretzel centres

          Hank:

I am sure we could do something, but all that shipping across the pond...$$$/£££

I'm in no hurry for them (yet), but they would finish off my project nicely.

Oh, I don't know. What is the VAT tax on a couple of plastic balls that cost less than 10p each? ;-) I won't tell if you don't.

By the way, I messed up on who I thought I was talking to before. It's Glen Brodeur that has the wheels for sale and Bob Gustafson that beat me to them, Right? If BOB doesn't need both I would like the second one for my 41.
I'm getting old and I confuse easily.

              Hank:

I'm confused too...I thought you were inviting me to do the casting (could be done) but shipping of subsequent parts might incur the cost of various import/tax/duty fiends across the world (depending on number of parts).

Anyway, keep the conversation going...perhaps you could dig the mould out while you are waiting for one of your coats of paint to dry...

Actually I just happen to have the molds and parts in my hot little hand right now (well, OK I set them down to type).
I thought you wanted me to make a set and send them to you (thus the reference to the VAT being insignificant since the price was only 10p each). Of course if YOU want to mold them I could send you the stuff if you want to give it a try. Do we have any idea how many people want them and the run size needed? Any idea what 10p is in dollars? I haven't got a clue but I am seriously doubting it is enough to make the job worthwhile (or to even cover the cost of the materials). I also have the negative to make a silkscreen of the emblem that goes on the button in the center of the wheel if we have a graphics artist in the group.
The masters I made the mold from came from Tom Baker that he turned and carved from some beautiful wood. Most of the originals I have seen were really warped and didn't fit together anymore. I owe the original wood hub back to Tom since he loaned it to me to make the mold.
I also have the mold for the glove box door handle if you want to do them all at once.
First step is to see how many are wanted.

Well, yes, I do really want you to make me a set and send them to me...10p is about 6 or 7 cents...I don't have the materials and/or equipment to mould them, but I could find someone who does; I have contacts in a few plastic mouding industries.

Is there someone also on the Ercoupe list that we could contact, since they also use the same hubs, and restorers/users of those planes must also require these items.

You know, Hank, that they have brass nuts cast into the front units that screws in the rear ones thread into? Do the mould allow for this?

                    control wheels

                    Hank,
Bob decided to pass on the wheels. If you want them you can have both. I only picked these up because they are rare and thought someone on the list could use them. Would you like the pretzel wheels also? Remember these need to be restored and you know THE man that help you with these.
                    Regards,
                    Glen Brodeur

Yes, I'm interested in the Banjo wheels. I have a couple of spare Pretzels but they are in really rough shape (out of a crash with bent shafts, I don't want any more details) and don't have the center balls. There are two really nice Pretzels on the 45 now but again I haven't had time to cast the balls.
Not sure who you are refering to as "the man" to help is unless Forrest wants to make a visit to Virginia Beach.
Have you got any pictures of the Banjos? How about a contact off group at [email protected] and we can work out the details.

I'd be very interested in a set of plastic wheel covers as well!
