  • Keyed Axles Washers for your Lawnmower or Wheelbarrow

    Hi All,

I sent out the first batch this week. I'd like to get some feedback from the guinea pigs before I mail any more:

    Do they fit?

Did you get charged extra postage?

Did the USPS manage to bend .090 4130 in an envelope? Did the washers come out of the packaging?

I think these will come in around $6 a set including postage and everything for the lower 48 states. I got one good set plated and the rest were duds, so they'll be "black oxide" and oil treated instead of plated. Basically it's a bluing process with minimal rust-prevention qualities.

You can send a personal message here on the forum with name, address, and the number of sets you need. (To do so, just click on the "Bashibazouk" handle next to the picture of the ratty BL-65 at the top of this message and select "personal message" from the menu that drops down.

I've got 60 sets made and I can easily produce some more if need be. I'm not sure how many will be needed. I hope to fly to Sun N Fun and will make sure I take a stack with me there as well.

Hey!! I started this thread so I should at least get two sets. I'll be glad to be a guinea pig and put some on my John Deere. I still have my skis on and it would be nice to put new washers on when I put the wheels back on.
Please let me know how to send payment. Meanwhile if you trust me, please send by priority mail to:

Great! The system seems to be working pretty well. 24 requests so far! I've filled all the requests and they should be arriving soon.

To make things a little easier, try this:

send me a personal message by clicking on the "Bashibazouk" link at the top of this message. Include your preferred mailing address and how many sets you'd like. A set is two (2) washers -- one per axle. I'll include mailing address in the envelope and you can send payment when you get the washers and are happy with them.

Re: Keyed Axles Washers for your Lawnmower or Wheelbarrow

Last night I received a small manilla envelope in the post. My wife and I eyed the suspicious package and questioned where it came from and what it contained. After donning a full face mask and latex gloves I carefully opened the package expecting white powder to spew forth.

To my delight, all of these precautions in the middle of nowhere in Texas were overly dramatic. Instead of white powder, I received two very nicely made keyed washers!!!!

                  Thank you VERY much!!!!

                    Hi Josh,
We picked up the washers yesterday--My wheelbarrow doesn't get many new parts so I'm actually looking forward to packing the bearings this time.
                    THANKS!

Josh, I'm out of town this week but I'm told my wheelbarrow washers showed up at home too. Spring has finally come to the upper Midwest, and I've got plenty of yard work coming up...

Look for something from me soon too, thanks!

Thanks, guys. I appreciate all the positive feedback. Though a horrible series of "Tim Taylor"-type events, I managed to destroy the cooktop on my wife's stove! I'm an idiot. For what it's worth, aluminum foil will bond to a glass cooktop in about 5 seconds at full heat. Don't be fooled, Muriatic acid will eat the aluminum and the glass like nobody's business... Should've paid more attention in Chemistry class.

Anyhoo, the next batch should be ready in a week. I sent out some single sets to guys who'd ordered three or more, but I made a note of it and will send the balance when they're done. No need to pay upfront-- wait until you get the rest of the order.

                              All the best,

                              Josh
