  • Taylorcraft forsale

My 1945 BC-12D is forsale, check Trade-a-Plane for pictures and spec. I would rather upgrade to a C85-12 engine. But I understand the STC is presently locked up. I will be looking for a plane with a starter. My BC-12D is in excellent condition with a 220 hour engine. I am asking $24500. See attached pictures.

It might be cheap if its Light Sport. I have a friend who wants a
Light Sport ErCoupe. They are more expensive than the Non Light Sport.

Well for my opinion; looks like a lot of plane for the money Walter. Very nice looking bird! Where else can you get 100mph, two people, 4.5gals./hr. and under $40,000! LL

Yes he has and he has also been selling the STC while he was ill, suggest that you call his number and order one if you really want one. He may very well be selling them on his own or perhaps his wife handles it. Only way to be sure is to call. The number is on the foundation technical page as well as in various threads, just search for Harer.

OR read the forumns and find that Forrest has been in cotacct with the NY ACO & the Harer family and will acquire the STC.
Weather has been a big factor in going back to Jersey Shore, I have a small list of folks htat need the STC and others that only need data that we have here.
Been away again last week, back this afternoon in the office doing Foundation stuff and making calls on the STC....

Forrest I volunteer to help with rewriting the STC stuff, a conversion manual, etc. if you want me to do it. I am only mentioning it again now because there may be a window with ACO during the transfer process where you can slip a change or rewrite in more easily than after it's all done.

I am curious about the bushings in the wing attach points. Can that be eliminated? Restrict the STC to the firewall forward...and maybe use a portable battery for the starter, no alternator. That would make a neat plane to fit the light sport catagory.

If you do the engine up grade you MUST replace the bushings and ad the shear plate between the front and rear wind strut attach brakets. I've been down this road already and that is the only way they will let you do it.

Kevin can you give some idea where the bushings and side plates fit. maybe a sketch or a picture.. how big a job is it to make the bushing installation... my plane is forsale on trade-a -plane, the inquires are minimal I may want to do the Harer conversion and keep the T-craft. Maybe the price is to high or maybe it is the economy. T-crafts are generally under priced as compared to P-cubs, The T-craft is a far better plane but the market does not understand. I put an elaborate ad with pictures in Trade a plane it cost me $50. Thanks for your time. Walt

                              Walt,

You have to take the wing off and remove the spar attachment fitting at the butt of the wing.

Then redrill the holes in the wood spar that are used to bolt on the attach fitting and put in new bigger bushings.

                              Lots of work.

The strut fittings are just a small steel plate welded on to the front and rear half of the fitting.
