    Re: L-2B Shock Cord Struts

You have "paperwork" we need to make sure it is built up as a L-2A or B not the M.
However I see no problem with using the M landing gear just makes it stronger .

what I saw was "I measured the front tube today, 1 1/2 inch. Forrest, why not the 1,300 lb gross??? I'm confused, I thought 'B' models were 1,300......_"
    Marty
some D models are 1300, some "B" models are 1150, 1200, 1280, none are 1300. you had a typo that my high speed brain did not understand. commonly known as a brain fart..

Forrest, now I am really confused. Type Certificate A-746 indicates maximum weight for DCO-65, L-2A and L-2B is 1,300 lbs and L-2M is 1325. Just curious as to where your figures are from. Inquiring minds, you know! Thanks!!!
      Cheers,
      Marty

This reminds me of flying with an instructor. Coming down final just about ready to land, and the instructor screams "take off power". What do I do reduce power , or go to full power? Either one could be right. It's just how your brain processes it. Tom

            Forrest,

The only B model I have is an L-2B, Bravo, Baker, Boy. The Type Certificate says L-2B. The paperwork for my plane says L-2B. The weight and balance for my L-2B says 1,300 lbs. The Maximum weight on the type certifiicate says 1,300 lbs for an L-2B. If you answered your phone I could talk to you about it and maybe you could pound it into my brain what the h*&! you are talking about!!!!! I agree with Tom, "Take off power"!!!!! Quit speed reading as it is confusing the daylights out of me. Better yet, call me at 217-299-1961 anytime 'cause nobody answers the bloody phone there in Alliance, Ohio (and it is 543 miles away so I cannot just drop in like everyone else seems to do). Thanks, hopefully, in advance!

            Tom Baker,

I should have a hinge for your dad in the next couple of weeks if you talk to him soon.

Marty, it sounds like you are having withdrawls. If you need a fix come down and I can stick you in the Cub. Tom

Don't tell them a "M" is a DCO-65 then. I don't think they specifically say "M" is not included or am I wrong? DCO-65 is on the lsa list.

                    Tom Baker,

Can you tell??? It's been two months that the plane has been sitting with two 2x4's under the struts with a strap between the gear legs while I try to get this sorted out!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!! (Thanks for the offer )

                    Dick,

You are a wealth of information, thanks!

                    Mike,

It is listed as such for allowable certified aircraft:
                    DC-65 (L-2, L-2C)
                    DCO-65 (L-2A, L-2B) but not L-2M
                    DF-65 (L-2E)
                    DL-65
                    L-2F
                    L-2G
                    L-2H
                    L-2J
                    L-2K

The 'M' is not allowed because it is 1,325 lbs gross. Apparently the paperwork would indicate that. Everything that is open cowled seems to be allowed, but no 'M'. I know what you mean about the DCO-65, but it would still be an 'M' and Dick's serial number information would seem to confirm that. The link for allowable LSA aircraft is: http://www.faa.gov/aircraft/gen_av/l...ing_models.pdf

Hi Marty , Boy did we have a good conversation tonight, too bad the Unit came on and interrupted us... Marty is a Veteran Police Officer, still on the job, I retired as a Capt. 15 years ago last Friday. WE get to yell at each other and love it!! Marty had his ship up to Dayton last Fall to the Air Museum and got to see other ships that I work upon... Marty we must make your ship into an airworthy Taylorcraft again soon! I really thought you were still putting together a basket case project... Dick & I will keep you straight. A "B" model is side by side. A "D" model is tandem. and Yes we have a shot the next time around to get our 1325 & 1500 Gross Tcrafts in under LSA. bye the way that is 599 kilo. which is a wee bit over 1320 ...
