Re: Rear windows
OK question, I have a pre war BC-12. It may be a Deluxe I do not know but it has three chrome bars on each side of the cowl and a chrome grill in the air inlets. However it does not have the rear windows or the small skylights. On a previous thread we determined that the triangle skylights were factory, what about the D windows? Were they a factory option too?

Re: Rear windows
The 41 has wood doors and (see other thread) I carved a set of "D" window frames for it that it looks like are not correct (not installed yet).
The 45 has the really light weight tube doors and post war type metal "D" window frames. I can trace the frames for the 45 for whoever needs them but they have some stiffening "dents" formed in that will be a little hard to make. also have the original aluminum pieces for the outside of the post war windows that held the "glass" in. We need a list of who needs what and how we can get the info circulated. I can provide the post war stuff.
Does anyone have the correct 1941 window patterns?
Mike is absolutely right, pre and post war windows are COMPLETELY different and the frames won't fit. I tried.

Re: Rear windows
The trim strips on the nose are hard to get. Take good care of them. They should run from the back of the door (with a hole for the door handle), across the boot and then the engine cowl. There are three on each side of the engine cowl as shown on the picture at the top of each of these pages. The planes with the polished trim strips will also have the polished cowl grills with a strip across them and another grill in the lower square cooling hole.
The triangle skylight was NOT standard on the "Deluxe". I found out two were done in 1945 as an experiment and was told Taylorcraft dropped the idea because it cost too much. My 45 had them but the 41 never did (but might get them in the future, they are REALLY nice!)

Re: Rear windows
I guess I do not know what I hace for a plane. I have the three strips on the cowl but not the doors or the nose bowl. I have not got to the bowl yet so do not know if the grills were chrome and are now painted or were never chromed, bvut they are now painted.

Re: Rear windows
Mike,
Send me your address and I will trace the parts for the "D" window. I am at hjarrett2@ cox.net. (leave out the space). Are you looking for the 41 or 45 rear windows? They are different! The 45 and later had the metal interior frames, the 41 were wood. My post war frames are original but my 41s are my best guess from photos and the rotten frames that were in there already. Anybody have an original hole tracing for a 41?
As for cost, drawings are free, don't worry about it.
Larry,
I think I have an extra set of pre war cowl grills in rough cast. You will want to look at your nose bowl and send me a tracing of the cooling holes. I can tell from that if you have the original bowl or someone has exchanged it for a post war. For a long time the original pre war bowls have been rare and a lot of planes have the post wars now that use the stamped grills. I "may" have a set of spare stamped grills but I know I need at least one set for the 45 and need to look at the pile to be sure I have two serviceable sets.
