  • WTB: Left Taylorcraft Wing Tank

Going to have to recover the wings soon, last done in the 70s, and getting all the parts in order. To prep for an eventual 85 HP upgrade, want both wing tanks. Looking for one, preferably, with all the associated accoutrements for a post-war wing. When I called Spruce to ask about the new ones, they said they are "interchangeable left and right" which makes no sense to me and I don't want to deal with that mess. In Texas. Thanks!

Chris, ACS has lefts in stock 3 weeks ago: I needed a right hand then but managed to get mine repaired. When they purchased Wicks, they got thier inventory which was just LH.

They are not interchangable. The company that Wicks had make them is no longer in business. The company that makes the L2 tanks can't take on a new tank project. If Spruce is out of stock of all of them, you will have to make your own. Univair does not make them. Sorry.

It was Wag Aero, not Wicks. They were produced in house by Aero Fabricators which was a Wag Aero company. Aircraft Spruce bought all existing inventory. They offered the drawings and manufacturing for sale, but I don't think it sold. They had an auction and sold off all of their shop/manufacturing equipment.

Thanks all. I just put in an order. Now if I can get Terry to respond on the rivets versus rip stitching and I'll be good to go
