3 in 1 6" Gauge, Tach, OP, OT

Have an overhauled (by Keystone) 3 in 1 gauge that has been sitting in my closet since 2005. Keystone replaced the temperature bulb. Has a very good tach cable and a good oil pressure line. From the red line and oil pressure markings it appears to be for a A-40 Continental. The early A models had Taylorcraft printed in the middle of the instrument face.

As for valuations, they are all over the place as is the typical condition. Most I have ever seen were NO WHERE as nice as yours. Some nice ones around mounted in planes but to find one overhauled and never installed this is the first I have seen. 40 T Inst Cluster restored John Wolf & Company, Inc..jpg Here is a photo of the early one with Taylorcraft on it.

The pictures Hank posted are for a Lycoming powered Taylorcraft. All three instruments have had their faces silk screened. I suspect that the "Taylorcraft" was added at that time. I'm not saying that there were no Lycoming tachs that had Taylorcraft on the face, but the only original ones I have seen with it were A models with the A-40 continental. My BL had original instruments in it when I restored it, and they did not have Taylorcraft on the instrument face. Another thing worth noting in the early tachs like these had steel cases instead of aluminum. I had a silk screen for both the Lycoming, and continental A-43 tachs, and screened a few faces. That was 30 years ago.

Yes, and there is a version that has a white face with black letters. It was used in several different aircraft. It was also used in other types of equipment. Then there were versions that added fuel gauges or ammeters.

Oil temp and pressure were reversed on the ones Luscombe used.

To give some perspective, mine was a rusted junk bucket missing both oil gauges I sent in to John Wolfe & CO in 2020. Took 2 years for them to complete and cost me $1700. I'd say this should be priced accordingly.

Yes they are nice but that's serious money and time. Then owners complain about dealing with rusty landing gear that holds up the plane.
